It’s official! Ferguson Fire and Fabrication has completed the ISO certification process and we can now officially say that we are now the Largest ISO 9001:2008 certified sprinkler fabricator in the country.

Six of our locations: Guntersville AL, Kansas City MO, Mansfield TX, Renton WA, Baltimore MD and Phoenix AZ put in an amazing amount of work in order to become our first locations to undergo ISO certification.

ISO is the terminology used by the International Organization for Standardization to identify, quantify, and certify that organizations follow the procedures and standards that are an integral part of their operations. By becoming ISO certified, companies and organizations become transparent and organize themselves so that all of their activities and procedures are standardized and documented. Gaining ISO certification tells other businesses that Ferguson is committed to being the industry leader and setting the quality standards for fire protection fabrication. When you agree to comply with ISO certification standards, you aren’t just telling people you are the best, you open yourselves to outside inspection by ISO certification inspectors; passing their muster PROVES you are the best!

ISO encompasses every facet of the operation from training and skill validation, raw material procurement, sales, fabrication, delivery and even requires a process to utilize in the event a warranty issue occurs. It is a comprehensive look at every facet of what happens at a location and every discrepancy has to be documented, analyzed and corrected.

A special shout out and thank you goes to the associates who played such a critical role in the ISO process under the leadership of George DiMatteo; Jerry Moffitt and Don Porter. Jerry and Don burned the midnight oil and racked up the frequent flyer miles getting FFF ready for ISO. At the branch level, every location had an ISO Branch Representative; they all did a ton of work getting their respective branches ready for ISO certification, make sure you say “well done” to:

Chad Collins – Kansas City
Terry Strawn – Guntersville
Matt Lucky – Renton
Kathy Woodard – Mansfield
Lindsay Ayers – Baltimore
Dan Bailey – Phoenix

Some people have asked why we would choose to go through the time and effort it takes to become ISO certified. The fact is that by doing so FFF opens the door to business opportunities who strive to do business only with companies that are ISO certified. These organizations know that the ISO certification means a rigid adherence to the standards and procedures that lead to top quality performance.

As time goes on, FFF management will evaluate the opportunities that present themselves and select additional branches to undergo the ISO process.  ISO is a never ending process that underscores FFF’s commitment to setting the industry standards when it comes to sprinkler fabrication.

Again, join me in giving a big THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to all of the people who gave of themselves to make this happen. Well done!

FFF Lends a Helping Hand to Local High School !

When Dan Bailey of FFF’s Phoenix, AZ location, found out that a local areas high school needed some resources for their welding program, he was more than happy to help. In addition to donating some scrap pipe that Dan had laying around, he struck up a conversation and relationship with Michael Dobritsky of Skyline High School.

Michael led a summertime field trip of Skyline’s “Engineering Club” to a couple of local businesses including Ferguson Fire. The students really seemed to enjoy seeing how the skills they were learning were put into practice in the real world. As you can see from the pictures, they were blown away by the equipment and technology level FFF uses to get the job done!

Forging relationships and giving back to the community is an important goal that every Ferguson Fire location is encouraged to pursue. Let’s all follow Dan’s example and find ways we can help out in our local communities!

John + his Raiders Love!

John “Mad Dog” Klein, General Manager of FFFNW, is a life-long Raiders fan. Don’t hold that against him, though, he is actually a good guy. So when Anvil salesman Eric Surface gave John the opportunity to go to a Raiders / Seahawks game, John jumped at the chance. Josh Lloyd, North West District Manager for Cosco, and Steve Giacamakis, FFFNW Ops Manager, were happy to go along and keep an eye on John. As you can see from the pictures, John met some like minded Raiders fans and some bonding ensued. Be sure to keep an eye out for John anytime the Raiders are in town, and feel free to give him a hard time about his team of choice! Nice hair John!

Ferguson Salesman puts his hair where his mouth is!

Chris Buckner, a FFF sales associate covering the Carolina’s, made a bet with his inside sales team. If they helped Chris hit his target in a given month, Chris would let them shave his head! As you can see from the attached photos, there is just no telling what motivated people can accomplish. As word spread, customers started chipping in by placing order to make sure Chris’ poor hair went under the knife.

When the time came, they all leant a hand to make sure that Chris’ head was as smooth as a baby’s bottom. Chris used his follicle status to put his picture on the front page of his pitch book and his Christmas cards!

The Charlotte, NC branch is a great example of the type of quality, caring people who work at Ferguson Fire and Fab.
